Rebecca Ann Alexander (born February 4, 1979) is a psychotherapist and author, who was born in Berkeley, California, and currently resides in New York City. She has appeared on Today, Morning Joe, The Meredith Vieira Show. and "The Dr. Oz Show" in discussion of her book, Not Fade Away, about living with Usher syndrome type III, which she co-wrote with Sascha Alper. Her brother is NBC News journalist Peter Alexander. In 2016, she won Helen Keller Personal Achievement Award in 2014, an award to people and organizations that "demonstrated outstanding achievement in improving quality of life for people with vision loss". Past winners included musicians Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Tom Sullivan, actor Charlie Cox (who portrayed a blind superhero, Matt Murdock/Daredevil, was awarded in June 2015), Chef Christine Ha and businessman Bernard A. Newcomb.

Early life and education
Alexander was born Rebecca Ann Alexander on February 4, 1979 in Oakland, California, to mother Terry Alexander (née Pink) and father David Alexander, who is an attorney. Alexander's fraternal twin brother is Daniel Alexander, who is also an attorney. Her older brother is NBC News journalist Peter Alexander. Alexander was diagnosed with the condition of Usher syndrome type III in late childhood. She has a half-sister by her father, Lauren Sierra Alexander, from his marriage with Paulina Osthues Fox. Alexander dedicated her book to her mother and step-mother.
Alexander earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and double master's degrees from Columbia University in social work and public health.

She has been the subject of stories and features in Marie Claire in 2007, New York Magazine in 2009, and in 2014 she was in Shape, New York Post, and the Daily Mail.
On September 15, 2014, Alexander appeared on Today twice during the main program, and on Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda. The next day she was on The Meredith Vieira Show to promote her book Not Fade Away. She also appeared as a guest on Morning Joe, on September 17, 2014. On September 23, 2016, Alexander appeared on Today in a segment in which she took her blindfolded brother to eat lunch, and the pair discussed the difficulties of being unable to see their food, drinks, utensils, and table setup. In a brief segment, her brother, Hoda Kotbe, Carson Daly, and others asked her questions about how she deals emotionally with her visual and hearing differences.
